Whitney Music Box

Jim Bumgardner is a software technologist and a music composer. Wide range of interests and specialization in multimedia and entertainment softwares combined with electro-based composition make Bumgardner a genius when it comes to creating 'toy softwares'. Among many toys on his website, I've found one that really caught my attention. It's the Whitney Music Box, Variation 20.Bell Carol. The chromatic spiral music box. Quite cool, right?! ;)

And in the end, the love you take...

And in the end,
the love you take
is equal to
the love you make.
[The End - The Beatles]

Wisdom Bits: I run into this cute little musical quote webpage today. Jon Tyler Core put together a bunch of wisdom bits from the famous musicians. That's where I've found this love quote that I really liked. Don't know what you think about it but I do find it amazing. We often pay more attention to the music than to the words that make the significant part of the song. And you have to admit that good lyrics do make a difference. ;)

If you're into photography you might also want to check out Tyler's headshot photography, Tyler Core Shoots People. Great photographs you can easily write lyrics to.

Enjoy!

Thom Yorke - Videotape

I've always liked Thom Yorke's voice. A great song to end the day.

Good night.

Tron: Legacy

Tron: Legacy is a sequel of the Lisberger's movie Tron from the 1982. The soundtrack for the original movie was composed by the American electronic musician Wendy Carlos. The combination of the analog Moog synthesizer and Crumar's GDS digital synthesizer with the non-electronic 'Disney' orchestra pieces makes this soundtrack quite innovative. You can listen to the soundtrack on Spotify : Various Artists – Tron.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and coming as a continuing of an amazing musical experience, Tron: Legacy shares the original musical concept of combining the orchestral sounds with the electronic ones. The soundtrack is composed and produced by the extraordinary electro kings  Daft Punk, while the orchestration was done by Joseph Trapanese

Personally, one of the best soundtracks I've heard recently.
The movie will be released on December 17th. See you in the cinema! ;)

Spotify, a completely new listening experience...

Spotify is amazing little fellow. With more than 10 millions of songs (and the number goes up with each day!) you can listen online, it represents one of the irreplaceable components of the modern online society. Spotify is available in: Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. The only annoying thing about Spotify are the commercials which can easily go on your nerves, or even ruin your special love moment. (The screaming add for Renault doesn't quite fit, right?!) You can download Spotify from their official webpage which gives you the opportunity of using Spotify Open and enjoy the music for 20h every month. If you receive and invitation from one of your buddies who already have Spotify, you can download Spotify Free which doesn't have the time limit and allows you to take your music abroad for the period of 14 days. Upgrade options are: Spotify Unlimited (4,99e/month) which enables you to listen to the music without interruptions and Spotify Premium (9,99e/month) which not only enables you to listen to the music without adds but also gives you the possibility of taking Spotify wherever you go for as long as you want and also using it on your smartphone. Cool, right?! Making playlists and sharing music with your buddies on Facebook, Twitter or MSN Messenger is just two clicks away. You can even connect Spotify with your Facebook account and explore your friends' playlists (and subscribe!) and send songs with a short message. I believe music was never this free.

Here's my personal favorite Spotify album lately : Benjamin Biolay - Trash Yeye. Enjoy!

There's music and then there's sound.

The more I listen to the music my Facebook buddies share, the more I stop opening the links they post. I believe that there's music, and that there's sound, and that mostly, nowadays, these two don't come together. On the mixed music paradise SoundCloud you can find many amateur tracks but also many professional djs sharing their ultimate electronic vibes. One of the tracks I run into today was the dance mix of the amazing georgian singer Katie Melua's track The Flood, originally produced by the great William Orbit. This mix was made by the japanese house producer Rokuro. This is just one of the examples how a mix can change the original song without making it sound like a bunch of separate sounds. Hope you'll enjoy it!
